Carol Essex

Carol joined Hill & Knowlton in October 2007 as Vice President Business Development and Marketing for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region. She is responsible for pro-active business development across the whole region with special emphasis on identifying growth strategies for key markets and practice areas.

Prior to H&K Carol worked for The Coca-Cola Company where she held a number of senior public affairs and communications roles in the Middle East, Africa and Southeast and West Asia. During her eight years with Coca-Cola, Carol played a key role in forging business partnerships that helped improve the company’s bottom-line corporate performance through reputation management, crisis communications and stakeholder engagement.

Whilst in Asia, she spearheaded the region’s strategic focus on Corporate Responsibility and citizenship programmes developing the trilateral partnerships between the company, United Nations Foundation and UNDP in response to the Asian Tsunami. Before moving to Asia she had lead The Coca-Cola Africa Foundation’s award winning HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention campaigns in North and West Africa. One major project for her was to establish the framework for the company’s sustainable environmental practices in partnership with the World Wildlife Fund in the Mekong Region.

Carol joined Coca-Cola with more than 10 years agency experience working on some of the world’s leading multinational brands in Europe.
