SEVILLE -- I used to work in the airline business and I know how conservative it is.
Modern commercial aviation had it's roots in the military, after the Second World War. So until quite recently the whole business was run by military guys.
Now they can be creative in their own ways... like Napoleon, or Alexander the Great... but those kind of people don't come along every day. Instead we have incremental change.
- What if we painted the tails different colours?
- What if we stripped out all the costs, and only charged the minimum?
- What if we put some shopping in the airports?!
So things can take a while. And, with health & safety being a primary objective, you wouldn't want them to say "let's see if these things fly better upside down..."
However, you cannot get anywhere new by doing the same thing every day. Can you?
Therefore, I think some credit is due to BAA and Terminal 5 for daring to try something new.

P.S. I am off now to buy Mrs Sarkozy's latest platter... You have to love a singing first lady.
