The Courage to Blog

John Husband's Wirearchy reflected wisely a couple of days ago on the social phenomenon of blogging and on the pyschology of blog scepticism:

Many people won't blog, or don't perceive a need to blog, or don't really have the skills, discipline, inclination or (dare I say it) the courage to wrestle with their thoughts, ambiguous issues and beliefs and don't want to express and expose the possibilities.

hey ,, thanks for noticing my blog.

I've been suggesting that blogging, both behind the firewall and externally, can be useful for organizations for a couple of years now, speaking from time to time at workplace-related or strategy & change related conferences and in courses / workshops.

Lots of people nod ... but it's still a stretch for many to enter such foreign territory ... it's not quite as easily manageable as a step-by-step milestone driven project, and requires a healthy, vital, flexible corporate culture (of course, I believe it can help lead to that as well ;-)
