EDS using blogs for thought leadership

As I have alluded to before, business blogging communities can be a great platform to support companies' thought leadership activities.

The guys at EDS have obviously read my post ;-) as they launched their Next Big Thing Blog yesterday - a place where their 27 EDS Fellows (their most innovative thought leaders) "discuss the future of technology".

Good points:

  • Comments allowed (although completely moderated - see bad points below)
  • Real names of post authors being used (only two contributors so far)
  • Blogging guidelines available (although the five bullet points seem more like a code of ethics to me)

Bad points:

  • No trackbacks
  • No comment policy (they say they will "review all comments for content", but no indication of what content will be deemed unsuitable)
  • No blogroll

    Hello Niall and H&K Bloggers,
This is Jon Hammond here from The Jon Hammond Show tv show on Time Warner. I did a special for one of your clients-Celebrity Cruises years ago when Amy Curtis and Joan Brower were there handling their account and later for Royal Olympic Cruises. I'm finding this Blogging to be a highly interesting way to embelish upon my broadcasting. We recently started our 22nd year on the air so quite a lot has changed in the world of Media since our first broadcast which was Feb. 2nd 1984.
The format of our show is: Music, Travel and "Soft News". I would really like to speak with you further about blogging and Podcasting. If you would be available for that please visit my website and send me an email or call me up. Many thanks,
    Jon
