I've finally come across a great example of a TV show using new media channels like MySpace and YouTube to provide a fun way for die-hard fans to be in on some extra fun with some of their favorite characters. Thanks to John Boyle's blog over at Search Engine Journal I read about producers of the CBS show in the States "How I Met Your Mother" creating a great back story for one of the main characters on the show.
Now taking this example and looking at it for a PR campaign, many campaigns could continue their own conversations with consumers using this kind of next generation media with some extra thinking and imagination. Maybe the head designer of your next product launch shoots a "how I was inspired" video for YouTube? Of course some products are natural for their own MySpace pages and there are a variety of examples to review. If your campaign will naturally have consumers wanting to know more, take a moment to think down this path and hang on for a fun ride ahead really engaging with your desired audience in a whole new way!
