The Seven Deadly Sins of Marketing

I was reading an article in Advertising Age this past week about “Account Planners” and was a bit surprised at how much the article makes it sound like they do what PR professionals do.  The article mentions these guys have to “keep up with fast-changing media” – who doesn’t?  I know account planners have to know all about the various forms of advertising and have recent consumer insight, but again, who doesn’t?  My theory is that everyone in advertising wants to do public relations anyway.

So stepping off my “PR people should rule the marketing world” soapbox, the article did have a nice mini-presentation from an account planner who is speaking at an upcoming account-planning conference.  Nothing really new on the list but it is a nice reminder of things PR professionals should also keep in mind as we continue on our quest to rule the marketing world.  Happy reading.
