We all know Dove’s ongoing “Real Beauty” campaign has been a huge success for the company, with lots of great PR along the way. Of course as a campaign gets more and more successful it has to be prepared for potential backlash. The current chapter in the campaign came out a few months back with a viral video called “onslaught” that showed all of the fashion/beauty ads that are aimed at girls of all ages, putting pressure on them to be a certain size or look. You can check out that video here.
Now someone has taken out those images and put in images from Axe/Lynx deodorant campaigns that feature barely dressed hot chics running around (view it below). A good reminder that brands need to be ready for anything, as more and more consumers now actually are the owners of most brands, being able to reshape, resize, recut anything and everything that companies develop and distribute.
The companies who not only expect it but embrace it are already on a different level that those who don’t, ready to tell their stories with the help of the end-users, full engagement to the max.
