I am a huge fan of the Volkswagen brand. I think the company always seems to have a great connection to current and future VW fans/drivers in everything the do - their marketing, their product, their showrooms and everything in between. A friend of mine in Amsterdam recently sent my way (thanks Ben) the link to a very cool microsite that VW has launched in the country to celebrate their 60th anniversary. It's a simple concept but works on so many fronts.
At the site you basically will see a different VW vehicle for each decade the company has been around. Now, the fun part, the site has 18 songs, 3 from each decade, and each song plays for about 10 seconds and you quickly have to guess which decade the song debuted. I swear they picked songs that came out on 1971 or 1989 or other years that are in the cusp of certain decades because I can't get over 14 right. Depending on how many you get right you can be entered to win some fun iPod products.
Of course if you don't live in Amsterdam and want to play and are good at it, you can't win the product (unless you happen to have a mailing address or second home there), but the site is definitely fun to check out (downloading takes a bit and then press on some button that I'm guessing says "lets rock" in Dutch). And it is such a fresh reminder of how easy concepts can be equal if not better than some crazy idea with a million moving parts on it. Keep driving.
