Corey Delaney, Apple MacBook Air - Creative Ways To Get In On The Fun

Sometimes the sun, moon and planets align to create something that gets lots of people talking.  Some person does something that strikes a cord, tugs at a heart string or creates a "can you believe that" moment via live TV or the local news and charges up some unique electron we all have.  A few American-based examples (with global impact) include Janet Jackson and her wardrobe malfunction at the Super Bowl a few years, Britney Spears of course and the head shaving fun and one of my own personal favorites Anna Nicole Smith (bless her soul, i do still love her) and her appearance at the American Music Awards.  (You can remember that moment here.)

Another moment happened last week down under, when 16 year old Corey Delaney had his 15 seconds of fame thanks to a party he threw at his parents house when they were out of town which he posted on MySpace.  500+ "friends" showed up and havoc to the tune of $20,000 for damage to neighbor yards, cars and the police dog squad and helicopter that were called in after the party goers threw bottles at the first round of police.

All this fun has led to a great example of companies who see something like this happen, immediately have an idea and put it into action as soon as possible to jump on the bandwagon.  With Corey arriving on the scene the "Slap Corey" website came soon after, which has had hundreds of thousands of people log-on to take a smack at Corey (good clean fun).  The company, Vivo Group, is positioned as a creative web developer and I'm assuming getting some new biz leads.

Another example of some smart people seeing an opportunity and going for it comes from Jona Bechtolt and Claire Evans, makers of the "ManilaMac."  For all of you Apple fans out there - you know all about the legendary inter-office envelope making a comeback thanks to Steve Jobs and the MacBook Air.  If you don't, take a quick read here.  Jona and Claire fell in love with the MacBook Air and the packaging that it first arrived in (the inter-office envelope) that they created a laptop sleeve for that Air that is handmade of durable upholstery-grade vinyl, and lined with fuzzy, soft fleece that looks just like an envelope.  Such a smart idea that allegedly is now all the rage for the geek-squad (said in the nicest terms) who love all things apple.

Keep your eyes open, there is always a bandwagon rolling by, ready for you to jump on board to get in on the fun.  YEEHAW!
