Let’s all do the chicken dance! You know you’ve done it, if you’ve been to a wedding or bar mitzvah or something in between its more than likely that you’ve heard the music and hit the dance floor with your arms flapping and strutting your stuff. My friends at Kentucky Fried Chicken (full disclosure, I grew up in KY) have taken a page out of their sister company (Taco Bell) and has announced a very cool super bowl ambush plan.

Today the company announced that it will pay $260,000 to a college scholarship program in the name of any player who scores a touch down during the Super Bowl and does the chicken dance in the end zone. When you think about a :30 second ad during the Super Bowl going for $2.7 million this is a very smart and cost-saving move.
KFC has said it is contacting directly some of the players who most have a chance of scoring to ensure they know about the offer on the table. The company also allegedly approached the half-time show star Tom Petty to give him the same chance at doing the chicken dance for a good cause.
The company has made it easy for all of those chicken dance loving consumers out there to also get in on the fun. They can upload videos of themselves doing the chicken dance on the
campaign site and win a flat screen TV, cheerleaders, lots of KFC and everything else needed for a great Super Bowl party.
Like the
Taco Bell “steal a base’ offering during the World Series, KFC scores a big touchdown with a campaign that is simple, gets people talking, has a way for people to participate and helps to communicate the fun personality of KFC. The colonel would be very proud I think. Go KFC!
