Top 10 Smartest Brands in Social Media
12 February 2009
One of the questions that came up at the Blender session was “who is doing it well” in social media?
Samir Balwani, a social media commentator has put together this list of the Top 10 Smartest Big Brands in Social Media, which I think is a pretty good start:
- Blendtec Blends it on YouTube (the inspiration for the Blender, by the way!)
- Burger King and the Sacrifice Facebook Application
- Starbucks Asks for Your Advice
- Sun Microsystems and the CEO Blog
- IBM With Lots of Blogs
- Zappos on Twitter
- Comcast on Twitter too
- Ford and Social Media PR
- Graco Uses Pictures on Flickr
- Dell Doing it Everywhere
What do you think? Who would you like to add to the top 10 for Australia?

I’d be very interested in finding out what people think are the Top 10 in Australia. I find it interesting when searching for influential Australia-specific brand there are very few.
I’m new to the Australian social media environment and am fascinated to know why such a large country doesn’t have it’s own online identity. Why, if 3/4s of online Australian’s are using social media, isn’t there a significant specific outlet for them? Perhaps I’m just not looking at the right sites. Would love to hear any suggestions/recommendations. Thanks.
