Our pre xmas blog round-up

As we enter the home stretch to Christmas, there’s still quite a bit going on in our sectors. To drill or not to drill? is the question posed by Glen Hodgson. Ben Bladon discusses Electricity Market Reform. Rowland Jack posts on Sport’s virtuous circle of funding and gives some good advice to sponsors thinking ahead to 2018. Scott McKenzie lists 10 things we’ve learnt about communicating change.

Meanwhile, I’ve posted my slide presentation: Highlights from the Web 2 Summit and Dave Chambers reveals the dramatic saga of the team trapped in #HKLift. Better than being trapped at LHR — good luck to all travelers.

Our London Blog Round-up

Happy Sunday. Time to hit the H&K corral for a Blog Round-up. It’s Week 10 of Dave’s Apprentice Awards series (Pls RT @Lord_Sugar). Jo says ‘Tis the season to list things we love and writes a (Not really) Review of the Year. Duncan posts on the importance of customer satisfaction in light of the recent Google announcement.

In our Energy sector, Glen wants shale gas higher on the European agenda, while Ben discusses the issue of public money for nuclear. Over in my world, I enjoy talking politics at an H&K Finland event. Let us know what you think.

A winter wonderland weekly blog round-up

Sunday is my day to catch up on the cornucopia of blogs from @HK_London. Especially as this week we have a new #WebCurios from Matt. Duncan also mentions the World Cup bid, specifically the media power of Twitter, while Dave keeps us up to date with the ninth edition of his Apprentice Awards.

Meanwhile, Annouchka and the Andrex puppy celebrate “The Little Things” — an ode to CGI cute.

Weekly blog round-up

Here’s what we blogged about this week at H&K London:
The PR Week conference (#PRWgrowth) was covered and tweeted by Annouchka Behrmann. I highly recommend Delivering Happiness by Tony Hsieh of Zappos.com. Have you read it yet?

Dave posted the 8th edition of his The Apprentice Awards. Duncan asks ‘Do playboys make good role models or more importantly good brand ambassadors?‘. The Ofgem investigation into the domestic energy market is discussed by Ben Wood. And Chris Pratt blogs about The Power and the Glory, The Effect of Foreign Ownership on British Manufacturers Image, plus the DECC Inquiry on Shale Gas.

H&K London weekly blog round-up

To get a feel for what the crew here are thinking about, let’s catch up with this week’s blog posts.

‘Tis the season for adverts. Annouchka Behrmann reviews some; Duncan Gallagher zooms in on the John Lewis drama. On another channel, Dave Chambers continues his Apprentice Awards. Jo White shares things to like and what to do when you make a mistake.

Duncan also Looks East, Rima Sacre visits the London Futures exhibition, and Glen Hodgson discusses The Energy Strategy for Europe.

As for me, I was privileged to be blogging from the Web 2 Summit, listening to everyone from Google CEO Eric Schmidt to Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook. More on the Summit to come.

What’s the biggest misconception about blogging?

More goodies from our Demystifying Digital client symposium. Speakers Jory Des Jardins, founder of BlogHer and Mascha, founder BeautyGloss.nl (one of the top blogs in the Netherlands), continue their conversation from this earlier post.

Why do Bloggers Blog? I asked @JoryDJ and @maschaa

Not to get all Freudian, but to understand bloggers, it is good to start with our motivations for blogging. There is such an amazing mountain range of blogs, yet there is a common thread. (Hint: it’s Passion.)

I asked this question at H&K’s recent Demystifying Digital client symposium. Two of my favorite star bloggers, Jory Des Jardins, founder of BlogHer (the largest network of women bloggers), and Mascha, founder BeautyGloss.nl (one of the top blogs in the Netherlands), shared their view.

Countdown to #CannesLions: Blogger Meetup in Soho Square

Whether or not you are one of the lucky crew swanning off to the Riviera, the global village of marketing will have all eyes on the Cannes Lions Advertising Festival this month.

To get the party started, we are inviting bloggers, media peeps and agency friends to our place to raise a glass of rosé together in toast to the creative spirit. If you follow Cannes, do join us on Wednesday 9 June from 6:00ish – 9:00pm. DM me or email Poppy to request an invite. We’ll have a bit of food, lots of drink and a perhaps a fun debate on why the week is still titled just ‘Advertising’ Festival.

With our global chairman as jury president and a street action seminar with Improv Everwhere to co-create, I must admit the H&K team are pretty psyched. Just don’t make me guess who’s going to win.
