Hello world!

30 January 2009

I have been a quiet observer of technology during the 12 years as a human resources professional.  Technical recruiters have to learn technology in order to understand the job requirement and market the opportunity to potential candidates.  This might not seem like such a difficult feat in today’s world when you can easily Google just about anything.  Try having an intelligent conversation with the CIO of an investment bank without understanding the terms ERP, OOP or RDBMS.

My focus the past year and a half is recruiting public relations professionals whose clients are in technology. This also involves providing human resources support for Hill & Knowlton San Francisco as well as Blanc & Otus‘ offices in San Francisco, Boston, Austin and London.

In order to do your job well, you have to understand your client’s world.  There has been a lot of buzz about digital and social media so I have been exploring using these tools for my job.  (Come follow me on Twitter.) There is always a place in my heart for brown bag sessions such as the messaging and positioning workshop led by Josh Reynolds.  Sitting in on brainstorming sessions or having lunch with a blogger have also given me more insight in the world of public relations.

My goal for this blog is to provide insights and converse about human resources, recruiting, public relations and technology.  Hopefully we can learn from each other!
