Putting the "public" in public affairs

17 July 2006

I have to admit I’ve never really understood what the point of public affairs really is, yet for quite some time we called ourselves one of the leading “public relations and public affairs” agencies.

Seemed to me like something a little seedy and secretive, but working with our public affairs team in the UK has opened my eyes somewhat.

Clearly this experience is mutual, because this morning (just) Tim Fallon (MD of our public affairs practice) started blogging.

His first post (aptly titled “It’s a first”) tells us what we can expect:

There’s a truck load happening out there at the moment – the G8, Israel and Lebanon, and don’t even get me started on Michael Levy and the alleged ‘Cash for Peerages’ scandal. Blog virgin I might have been, but I fear I’m now about to enter the mainstream world of ‘blogdom’. Let’s see what happens, eh?

As far as I know, Tim has never sold a bicycle lock that you can open with a Bic pen, a laptop that spontaneously self-combusts, or pissed Jeff Jarvis off, so I’m trusting you will welcome him into the blogosphere with open arms.
