Welcome to my first blog post. Since becoming global chairman and CEO of Hill & Knowlton this past January, the everyday challenges of the new role have meshed with a lifetime of experiences and observations and created a collection of fresh perspectives for me.

Those who know me are aware that I don’t do well at sitting behind a desk. Faced with 80 Hill & Knowlton offices around the world, I knew that my first step was to pack my bags and see first-hand what our employees and clients look like around the world.

My journeys have taken me from Athens to Beijing, from London to Sao Paulo — and countless cities in between. As I continue to circle the globe in coming weeks and months, I look forward to sharing with you what I’m learning about the world and our industry.

And this isn’t just about my perspectives — I want to hear yours as well. I look forward to reading your insights and hearing your reactions to what I’m reporting.

Dag Hammarkjold said that “… only he who keeps his eye fixed on the far horizon will find the right road.” In these posts, I’ll do my best to keep us focused on the horizon. With any luck, we will make this a journey that holds our interest and takes us far.

Thanks for coming along.

This is a great partnership for the future.
