What about the companies that knowingly produce unnatural foods at lower costs, at the demand of the cash-strapped masses. Safety of transportation and storage is a logistical bare minimum. That said, safety is a pretty vague concept once you depart from the simple question of "is this apple rotten or not?" Sad thing is, the food does not even have to be tainted to be bad for you.
