My friends at TrendCentral (who are great to keep track of the latest trends and cool things to check out) brought Brooklyn artist David Horvitz into my world, and I’m so excited they did.  David is a photographer (among other things) who seems to just want to have fun with people connected to some part of photography.  On his website you will of course find beauiful photography, but you’ll also find the chance to send David a disposable camera and postage money and he’ll take photos and send them back to you.  Or you can send him $10 and he’ll take a photo of the sky, print it out, send it back to you and destroy the file so you have the only photo of its kind.  This is part of his “Things For Sale That I Will Mail You” series and its lots of fun to check out.  He has my mind scrambling to think of more fun things to do like this.

His latest bit of fun highlighted on Trend Central is called “For A Brief Time Only” which is extremely clever.  David reached out to friends who shot 24 different photos which have now been gathered into an art exhibition.  So far, sounds like a pretty standard show.  But now, the kicker, you actually can purchase the photo exhibition via a local drugstore that prints photos, paying them $5 (printing and processing costs) to have the photos for your own personal art collection.  You simply go to the website, send an email to David telling him where you live and then he’ll email you back with a location and pick-up time at a drug store near you (right now only in the US, UK and Canada, but David says he’ll be happy to work with others to have the show sent to other countries).

For me David is a fountain of inspiration, someone trying new things, having fun in the process and entertaining all who want to come along for the ride.  Take a moment to check out his site and see what his world does to your thinking.  Love it!
