Fall has officially hit us with many upcoming social media and tech events.  Take advantage of the rest of the month and attend a social media breakfast, learn how to Tweet, or possibly enhance your Web 2.0 skills.  If you happen to make it to an event  that’s listed, please feel free to  leave a comment and share your experience!

  • October 18— Hacker News Meetup and Happy Hour- Meet other HN readers, talk startups and technology, and (as always) you are encouraged to plug your own startup, give laptop demos, request feedback, recruit beta users, ect.
  • October 19Integrating Social Media, Mobile and External Apps into Your Website- A discussion of social media, mobile, external apps and tools that exist outside a traditional website.
  • October 20Social Media Breakfast DC: The role of electric vehicles in Ford’s future- Hosted by the Social Media Club DC.  Guests will have an exclusive opportunity to chat with a member of Ford’s communications team and learn about how social media has become integral to the company’s marketing strategy.
  • October 28Web 2.0 Tools- Web 2.0 Tools Del.icio.us. Flickr. Wiki. Chrome, Meebo, Firefox Plugins, iCal, YouTube, Skype, Digg… Gibberish? Or potentially useful tools? In “Web 2.0 Tools” we’ll discuss what these resources are and how they can be used in your everyday work to help you manage everything from the news you read to the way you contact people.
  •  Twittering Away- A class for those who are interested in twittering during big events or for any other purpose. We will discuss what Twitter is and how it can be used by journalists, then move into a hands-on period where participants can set up their own account.
  • October 29-   In “Blogging Basics” participants will set up a blog using Blogger and learn how to format their posts, add videos and pictures, easily include ads, and monitor the blog statistics using FeedBurner.
